E-mail: michael@goodhartphotos.com I am really glad that you have found my web site of photography. I suppose a few words about myself and why I enjoy photography would be good to mention here! I was born in the village of Warsaw in the western part of New York State in 1979. I have always enjoyed the visual and performing arts. As a young child, I loved to go to art shows with my mother and get lost in some of the brilliant prints and photographs that traveling artists sold there. During high school, I would look forward to art class the most. The act of putting my joys and frustrations into a creative form was very therapeutic for me. In my college days, I greatly appreciated the residence hall that I lived in, a community of aspiring musicians, artists, dancers, and actors/actresses. While I occasionally dabbled in music and painting, it was photography that eventually transformed into my fulfilling passion. My photography transition from hobby to amateur profession came with the purchase of a Canon Digital Rebel camera in 2004. It was difficult for me to leave the tradition of 35mm film behind, as I always considered that physical act of light and color being composed onto a negative to be a soulful experience. But in short time, the convenience of digital imagery took over. I now believe that it doesn't matter what form you use to interpret what's out there in the world. There is no getting away from this - the art of photography is a spiritual craft, open to interpretation or simple awe. To capture a moment in time and place from your own perspective is a joy. My work presently consists of images from Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Canada, and Ohio. I now live in southeastern Massachusetts where I work as a residence hall director at Bridgewater State College. I also spend my time working on family history research. You can view another web site that I have put together for genealogical purposes. Galleries and Exhibits January 7 - February 2, 2008.
